# Zero Product Property | What is Zero Product Property and how to use it

In this blog, I am going to discuss with you what is Zero product property, zero product property worksheet and how to use it.

This property states that:

The product of two non zero elements is always a non zero number

## Zero Product Property Worksheet:

The pic below has three examples of what is zero product property and I will explain them one by one.

### Example 1:

Dot means time or multiply and 0 of course is the result of multiplying these two quantities together,
so usually you'll see this written in your textbook as a times b equals 0
and what it means is that either a is 0 because 0 times anything is 0 or B is 0 because 0 times anything is 0 or they're both 0

### Example 2:

Ok, if we know that this quantity is 0 or this quantity is 0 or they're both what we're going to do is we're just going to take each group
because you can see these groups are multiplied together that's the product and we're going to set each of them equal to 0 so X plus 2 equals 0 or X minus 3 equals 0 now

if we add 3 to both sides we're just solving these little mini equations here x equals 3 or if we subtract 2 from both sides we get x equals negative 2 so these are the two solutions to this equation

now they don't always give it to you like this in the factored form they'll give it to maybe like as a polynomial or triangle me like this and what we want to do is we want to factor it first

so it's a product of two factors and because it's equal to 0 we can use the zero product property to solve by setting each group to 0 so what we're gonna do here is we're gonna factor this first

and you can see okay what multiplies to negative 12 that's negative 4 and positive 3 and let's just double-check negative 4x and positive 3x that's negative 1x right and action times X is x squared so we know we haven't factored correctly all we have to do now is set each group equal to 0 so you have X minus 4 equals 0 or X plus 3 equals 0 so you can see if we add 4 to both sides we get x equals 4 or if we subtract 3 from both sides you get x equals negative 3
